Made in China circa the mid-19th century, its original purpose was a day bed. The top features a woven rattan inset, finished in red lacquer, showcasing an age-related patina. Its latest use is a coffee table, but it would also make the perfect daybed, perhaps on a covered porch, in a bathroom, etc.
