The Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres is one of the principal European porcelain factories. It is located in Sèvres, Hauts-de-Seine, France. This palatial 19th Century French ormolu mounted Sèvres urn is in the Neoclassical style and crafted from hard-paste porcelain, also called "true porcelain." The urn is adorned with bronze ormolu details throughout, and its bulbous body is set above a waisted porcelain socle with a spreading circular foot mounted on a bronze base. The urn's body is topped with bronze handles and painted with mythological scenes depicting cherubs frolicking amongst blooming roses, signed by the artist, A Maglin. The urn consists of 3 parts, the base, the body, and the lid. The body of the urn spins freely on the base via the socle.
